This grid spawned from my desire to include some longer stacked answers like 13- and 16-across or 30- and 35-across. My early puzzles relied heavily on these, and the result was a lot of questionable answers, so I didn’t have to kill my darlings. I then swung like a pendulum in the opposite direction, favoring shorter answers to avoid tough fills. I’m trying to find a happy medium now, and I think this puzzle is a great example.
